Vol. II is the second studio album by Canadian rock duo Angine de Poitrine, released in 2026. The masked performers from Saguenay, Quebec, who call themselves a Mantra-Rock Dada Pythagorean-Cubist Orchestra, deliver a genre-blending assault of microtonal rock, fusing math rock grooves, acid techno, disco, psych elements, and relentless rhythms that evoke a fun, herky-jerky dance frenzy. Khn de Poitrine wields a double-neck guitar tuned to notes between standard Western scales, creating an alien buzz, while Klek drives locked-in percussion that builds looping structures into controlled explosions, treating wordless vocals as textured instruments amid thick bass lines and shifting tempos. Receiving universal acclaim with Metacritic's 88/100 score and Any Decent Music's 8.2/10, the album builds confidently on their 2024 debut, expanding into bolder, more vocal-driven spaces that feel strangely irresistible and impossible to ignore. Initially digital, the CD edition followed later via ATO Records and Spectacles Bonzaï, capitalizing on viral KEXP buzz that propelled the polka-dotted enigmas to international stardom. Pitchfork praised their alchemy in grooving the unsexiest sounds into something undeniable, marking Vol. II as a surprise standout of microtonal madness in constant, head-banging motion. Tracklist 1.
